100 Days of Code – Part 5

Over the last two weeks I have been back to working on Visual Basic. The first week since my last article I was working on ‘early and late binding’, which I found to be reasonably easy to understand and it didn’t take me too long to grasp the concept of it. During the second week I began to work on ‘determining object types’, until I fell ill on Thursday night. Since becoming ill I couldn’t bring myself to dedicate an hour each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Now, whilst I am disappointed that I couldn’t complete 3 days of the challenge, I do believe that health comes first – and I really needed some rest! But I am back on my feet now and back to the challenge!

Over the course of the next two weeks I am hoping to add an hour to a few days in the week to make up for the time lost. So on this basis, I will be attempting to complete the ‘declare elements’ topic – as it is one of the larger topics.

As I am now more than half way through my experience, I found that constantly finding new topics to learn/work on was becoming a more difficult task. I think it can be quite hard to find a topic to work on when feeling uninspired. So I did some research on feeling demotivated and how to feel motivated again and I found a really great one which re-inspired me in my #100daysofcode journey.

Overall, the challenge so far has taught me a lot of new things. Not just about coding, but also about time management, organisation and perseverance. But the most recent lesson I have learnt from this challenge is that it is okay to take days off! We are human beings and when rest is needed, nothing should stop you from taking that time to yourself.
