NEWS – DSP Toolkit

DSP toolkit article

The DSP toolkit is an online self-assessment tool that allows organisations to measure their performance against the National Data Guardian’s 10 data security standards.

All organisations that have access to NHS patient data and systems must use this toolkit to provide assurance that they are practising good data security and that personal information is handled correctly. Completing the DSP assesses whether an organisation is working towards or meeting these standards. The results are publicly available online for anyone to access.

The toolkit assessment provides assurance to NHS management, staff, and system users that the organisation is practising good data security and that personal information is handled correctly.

To date, over 40,000 organisations have completed the toolkit.

The scope of the toolkit is the same as the UK’s National Data Guardian’s (NDG) data security standards which cover the following 10 areas:

  • Personal Confidential Data
  • Staff Responsibilities
  • Training
  • Managing Data Access
  • Process Reviews
  • Responding to Incidents
  • Continuity Planning
  • Unsupported Systems
  • IT Protection
  • Accountable Suppliers

Jeppstones have been registered since 2019 on the DSP toolkit.

We have also provided consultancy to private healthcare companies to assist them with their submissions and accreditation. If you would like to discuss how we can help, please email info@jeppstones.com
