100 Days of Code – Part 3

If you have read my recent tweet you will be aware of the reason my article has been slightly delayed this time. In case you haven’t, I have had a lot of essays and exams recently so I have been a bit behind in my online life! But I’m glad to say I’m back and ready to update you all on how I have found #100DaysOfCode these past 2 weeks.

So, I am pretty proud to say that I haven’t missed a day over the last 2 weeks! Although being busy with my school work – I realised that coding for an hour a day was helping me improve my skills in the long run and for my recent exams. Over the last 2 weeks I have been working on ‘delegates’ and ‘procedures’. I’m still currently working on procedures as it’s a rather long topic but I haven’t found it too hard. I particularly spent extra time on ‘operator procedures’ as I wasn’t quite getting it right at first, but after some determination and perseverance I got there in the end!

One thing I have taken away from this challenge so far is that practice really does make perfect and when you put the effort in, you do reap the rewards. Striving for results is something that is essential when programming as very rarely do things ever work the first time you try them, but when they do work, it is a very fulfilling feeling.

I am using the actual Microsoft Visual Basic website and a textbook by S.Langfield for help and activities to complete. I am finding them both to be very helpful and easy to use and navigate.

Overall, I have so far enjoyed my experience with #100DaysOfCode and I have also found the community to be very welcoming and helpful. I would encourage everyone to try it, you can be a beginner or an expert, it doesn’t matter. Just learn something new!
