The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduces a new obligation to perform a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) before carrying out the types of processing that are likely to result in high risk to an individual’s interests.

“High risk processing” encompasses:

• automated processing

• large scale processing of special categories data – which includes health and genetic data

• systematic monitoring of a public area.
